On a windswept island between Ireland and Scotland lives a young boy called Dillon. After a strange vision one night he starts to believe the foreign family visiting the beach are the malevolent Fin Folk of local legend. They have captured the fancy of his brother, Niall, and the recently divorced fish shop owner, Cathal. On discovering his brothers decision to leave with the family, Dillon tries to convince him of their sinister nature. However. instead he only convinces Cathal who willingly sacrifices himself to the sea in the hope of joining them. Dillon watches him drown, hoping in vain to see the Fin Folk rise to claim him.
