Cirque Tsuki Trilogy: Birthday, Feast and Parade

Performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Gaiety Theatre Dublin and The Swansea Grande theatre.

**** "ingeniously conjured" The Stage

**** "quietly satisfying and insidiously memorable" Scots Gay

CIRQUE TSUKI is an immersive trilogy about an enchanting, monochrome Circus of magic, shadow puppetry, dance and storytelling. The three shows, BIRTHDAY, FEAST and PARADE, are each set at different moments in the life of the Circus, from its optimistic conception to sinister demise. The striking black and white design creates a totally indulgent world where extraordinary tales come to life around audience and characters alike. Each piece is a show within an interactive and immersive performance, examining  the complex weave between the stories we tell and the lives we lead.

BIRTHDAY is based on Little Red Riding Hood, set in the early days of the Circus. Cirque Tsuki is celebrating Madam Mist’s birthday with popcorn and games for all the family. Her husband giver her a present of a living doll and together they tell their own unique version of the classic fairytale, with enchanted forests and shapeshifting wolves!

FEAST is based on 1001 Arabian Nights, set in the lavish hey-day of the Circus. The audience are invited to mix love potions, hear their fortunes and gamble their fates. The Great Zanagi and his loving wife present a whirlwind Byzantine romance of tales within tales. But trouble seems to be brewing in this luscious paradise, as Zanagi becomes increasingly seduced by the extra-ordinary creature in his power, the living doll.

PARADE is based on Japanese ghost stories, set at the tragic end of the Circus. In a desperate attempt to bring back his dead wife, Zanagi and the Circus are playing a game called The Night Parade. 100 ghost stories are told and 100 candles are blown out, for as the legend goes, when the last light goes out, the gates to the underworld will open again.
